I guess every recipe, even the most unfortunate-looking ones, have at least one person who likes it.
I thought about using turkey bacon, but I wanted to follow the ingredient list on this pie exactly. I kind of hoped that all the bacon fat would cause some sort of magical transformation in the oven, like what all those layers of butter do to croissants. Obviously that did not work. I'll tell you what I really miss: I used to live near a butcher that served a lot of Jewish customers. They weren't a kosher shop, but they did have beef bacon. And it is amazing. It is also mostly meat instead of 75% fat.S. I love Vincent Price's pumpkin pie too much to lose faith in him over this, but I will narrow my eyes at the late Mr. Price a little!

My rinkydink little grocery store at least sells turkey bacon, so less fatty things are available. Which is good, because I feel like regular bacon is SO FATTY these days! I like crunchy bits, not pork-flavored chewing gum.
